paper bag history

I think that everyone needs a theme song and that everyone should be given free rolls of toilet paper when they get their taxes back.

Nike: “Voices” (by NikeWomen)

Nike, sometimes I kinda hate you… but this time I kinda love you.

Nike ad: If You Let Me Play (1995) (by rossknights)

This weekend marks the ad firm W+K’s 40th Anniversary. Out of all the ads for Nike they’ve created over the years, this is by far my favorite.

the USMNT released the their new nike kits for 2012 (and i imagine the olympics). While there is quite the hateful comments on them online, I quite frankly, like them. Basically, this is the kit for the NATIONAL TEAM. They ideally should be simple, restrained, classic and not garish. There should be no ‘screaming eagles’ sublimated into the fabric, stars and stripes or denim (cough, cough adidas). I personally like kits to where you look back in 10 years and think to yourself… what in the fuck were they thinking? And this, I think… can stand the years. Some people may say that it lacks creativity, but those are the same people who liked the University of Maryland football uniforms UA came up with this year and didn’t cringe when they saw comic sans on the back of the German Jersey’s in the Womens World Cup.

I went to go check out the new Nike Portland store today downtown. Overall, the store was all full of win, especially all the wood that was used was reclaimed from old area high school gyms. There was also a really cool interactive wall with tons of older Nike commercials that you could watch. My one big pet peeve though, is that when a staff member came to ask me if I needed any help, I told him to point me in the direction of the womens soccer section, or national team stuff. He kinda grimaced… checked with a co-worker and came back to tell me that they didn’t have any women stuff (they did have mens national team items though.) I just looked at him with a straight face and said "FAIL". He did tell me that Hope Solo may swing by the store tomorrow… but it was too late. I had already been disappointed.
